What is public policy?	Essentially, public policy is a set of laws, guidelines, and actions decided and taken by governments in order to work in favor of the public. Exploring social problems.	What social problems are affecting people in the world? These problems can include environmental, political, or health concerns.	2. Explore the Social Problems in the World Today

Identifying a social problem.	Identify a social problem that is affecting people in the world?	3A. IDENTIFY A SOCIAL PROBLEM IN THE WORLD 3B. Use Worksheet #1 in the workpacket to record your responses.
Step #4		Directions
Gathering Evidence for the chosen social problem.	After identifying the social problem, gather evidence of the social problem. How do you know the social problem exists?	4A. GATHER EVIDENCE OF THE SOCIAL PROBLEM 4B. Use Worksheet #2 in the workpacket to record your responses.
Step #5		Directions
Gather Evidence for the Causes of the Social Problem.	Determine the causes of the social problem. Look at all sides to the problem.	5A. DETERMINE THE CAUSES AND FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO THE PROBLEM 5B.Use Worksheet #3 in the workpacket to record your responses.

Evaluate a public policy to address the social problem.	Evaluate a public policy to address the social problem. This can be a policy currently being pursued or a solution you have created. Complete a Comparative Analysis about the Social Problem you chose and any other Social Problem that exists in the world today.	Conduct Comparative Analysis by evaluating the Social Problem and synthesizing the solution comparing the outcomes of your social problem to another similar Social Problem in the world today.How are these two problems similar? Is your proposed policy similar to the way in which this other problem was solved?	7A. COMPARE YOUR SOCIAL PROBLEM WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM THAT HAS EXISTED IN THE WORLD 7B.
